GUBA Social Enterprise is a Ghanaian based organisation with a well-established track record of building cultural, trade, and diplomatic links between the UK and Ghana
Instituted to celebrate, acknowledge and support Ghanaians and individuals in the UK and in Ghana, we are the hub and the link between Ghana and UK. GUBA recognises individuals and organisations that have distinguished themselves in their contributions towards the growth and development of Ghanaians in the UK and across Africa.
GUBA Social Enterprise is segmented into four activities:
- GUBA Awards
- GUBA Foundation
- GUBA Expo
- GUBA Careers
Our goal is to provide an engaging network for promoting greater cultural diversity in the UK as well as raising the profile of Ghana. Additionally, GUBA undertakes a number of charitable initiatives to address some of the most entrenched Health and Social Care issues affecting the Ghanaian community in the UK and in Ghana.
The organisation also provides business support by offering access to skills capital from business coaches to workshops, networking opportunities and support.
The Enterprise wants to support businesses to grow and thrive within our community so that they can continue to play the vital role in stimulating local economic growth by leveraging collective talent to encourage entrepreneurship, private sectors development and initiatives. It is envisioned that GUBA Social Enterprise will become a long-term force for change and development within the Ghanaian community in the UK and internationally.
GUBA has been acknowledged and endorsed for its role in recognising Ghanaian achievements in the UK, as well as promoting the national interest of Ghana and the African community, by dignitaries and organisations including; The Ghana High Commission to the UK & Ireland, The British High Commission in Ghana, The Ghana Ministry of Tourism, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and wife Cherie, Lord Paul Boateng, Diane Abbott MP and FIFA President Sepp Blatter. The current GUBA patron is British actor Hugh Quarshie. In July 2013, the GUBA Awards received an International Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Excellence Award, beating over 100 nominees from the UK corporate sector.
The organisation won silver in the ‘International’ category of the awards for its work supporting and enriching British-Ghanaian communities. The accolade gives GUBA the opportunity to be recognised as a leader in corporate social responsibility and be officially honoured at the House of Commons with a CSR World Leader Plaque.
GUBA Foundation creates awareness, provides support and guidance to families, create strong connections encouraging community cohesion, and ensure that the community have access to the services that they require.
GUBA Expo is a platform for Africa-inspired products in particular to be showcased, creating an opportunity for exposure and business development for the SMBs, as well as investment prospects for larger organisations.
